Thank You Teachers!
Teachers teach us, laugh with us, supervise us day and night, travel with us to the
ends of the earth (or at least to other states), put up with our constant boisterouness, assist us when we're
completely bamboozled, applaud us when we figure something out,
and still find the time to open and lock doors for us to access all the stuff we have left
strewn around campus. We are extremely grateful for every hour our teachers have spent with us,
supporting us in so many different ways.

When and how did you first get interested in robotics?
I really got interested in robotics right before our first season when a parent
volunteered to financially support a Castilleja FIRST team if we were interested.
I remember hearing about the challenges and the overall professional code of conduct
among the teams and got really excited and said yes. I became co-advisor for the
team that first year.
What is your area of expertise?
I am a chemistry teacher so I really do not profess to know much about robotics, but
I really like to tinker. I love to fix things that are broken and to find out how
they work. I love tools and woodworking and I think that girls in general do not get
many chances to handle tools and to build things, so I feel fortunate that my father
allowed me to follow him whenever he was fixing something.
What's been one of your favorite experiences working with the students?
Getting to know students in a different setting than in the classroom.
Other than robotics, what are some of your favorite hobbies?
I make contemporary quilts in my spare time (obviously only in the summer). I work with
silk and I love bright colors in eclectic patterns.

When and how did you first get interested in robotics?
When I was little I had a lot of fun playing with Capsela building kits. Legos
were also pretty cool. When I was approached to be the teacher advisor for the robotics team,
I thought that it would be a great opportunity to get involved in Castilleja, especially as
the subject is particularly intriguing.
What is your area of expertise?
Advising and supervising the build team.
What's been one of your favorite experiences working with the students?
Anytime when I create a situation in which the students are able to do things
themselves and be innovative.
Other than robotics, what are some of your favorite hobbies?
I really enjoy hiking, solving extraneous physics problems, sudoku, exploring my adopted home town of San Francisco, and calling my friends to gloat about the California weather.
